Our Story

About The Diamonds

Rooted in the 60s. Built for right now.

Where We Started

A Band Built On Real Musicianship

The Diamonds started life as an authentic 50s & 60s pop and rock 'n' roll band — and that heritage is still exactly why we sound the way we do. Live musicianship, period knowledge, guitars and harmonies, and a genuine affection for the records that started it all.

But an era is only half the story. What people actually remember isn't which decade a song is from — it's how the room felt when everyone sang the chorus together. That's the night we build, every time.

Why It Still Works

The Songs Generations Share

The bride knows the chorus. Grandad remembers the chart hit. The teenager knows it from somewhere else entirely. Then everyone is singing the same hook, at the same time.

That's the strongest argument for classic songs at weddings, festivals and mixed-age events — and it scales just as well to an informal night in a pub, club or acoustic set. The 1960s stay at the heart of what we do. They've just stopped being a fence around it.

What Never Changes

What You See Is What You Hear. No Tricks.

We don't try to copy the CD, we arrange each song by hand, every time.

The People Behind The Sound

Placeholder bios for now — photos and a final polish to come.

MK

Martin

Lead Guitar

Hailing from New Zealand originally, Martin brings huge experience and bags of feel to the band. When not laying down his tasteful licks as a Diamond, he's providing stonks of bass to our pals Chequered Past — a local Ska/Punk band. Great guitarist, brill bassist, and an absolute gent of a bloke. He used to be a piano teacher too!

MJ

Myles

Drums & Percussion

Keeping the crew in time, Myles is the beat of The Diamonds. A true artist, he is an avid woodworker in between gigs and rehearsals. He's even turned his hand to making his own snare… and it sounds amazing! When not doing those things, he'll be travelling the world, trying not to injure himself whilst skiing, or heading off on a drum workshop with someone famous!

RL

Ross

Bass & Vocals

By day he's a digital spy (OK, he works in cyber-security!) but by night he brings that low-down backbeat alongside Myles' drums to bring the energy to the dancefloor. Sharing vocal duties, harmonising and arranging are his favourite parts. Ross is also our Sound Engineer, running the PA, servicing gear, and making sure everything sounds just right whether a ballroom or a bar. Ross is one of the founding members of The Diamonds from over 30 years ago.

AJ

Andy

Rhythm & Vocals

Front and centre, with a fashion sense to match, Andy takes lead vocal duty and plays rhythm on some rather nice Gibson and Rickenbacker guitars. Delivering a powerful Presley, a cracking Cash or a superb Sedaka, his vocal style and quality defines a lot of the band's direction. When not working on classic songs, he's restoring classic cars — and he's even been on the telly! The Diamonds was started three decades ago by Andy and Ross.

Pat

Lead Guitar (Dep)

Pat has been guitaring almost as long as he's been breathing — and consequently he's rather good! When Martin is off on his other duties, we love to get Pat out of his flight-case. He plays Hank Marvin better than Hank, drops creamy solos easy as pie, and actually did a full-time stint with the band a few years ago, so he knows the stuff for sure!

“Not a theme night. Not a history lesson. A live band built for live events.”
